Our vision is a global community that protects the natural foundations of life and responds in solidarity to the impacts of environmental degradation and the climate crisis. Law has a central role to play. It requires strong legal frameworks, their effective implementation, courts that safeguard rights, and an empowered civil society that uses the law for the common good.
We work where environmental law has yet to realize its full potential. Although numerous legal provisions exist to protect the environment, their implementation often falls short of what the law requires.
We empower civil society actors in Germany and around the world to understand, apply, and advance environmental law. We work to build public and political support for strong environmental laws and a vibrant civil society.
We provide training, coordinate strategic action by environmental organizations, and convince politicians and the public. By doing so, we promote respect and appreciation for our fellow humans and for nature. We advocate for environmental protection and human rights in various ways.
